Lewis G Rosenthal:

As you already know, I use eCS for Apache, PHP5, FTP, & Communigate Pro, as I have since eCS 1.0.

My network infrastructure is NetWare-based (DNS, DHCP, eDirectory, MySQL, Apache - secure sites run on NetWare - , PHP4).

Tony:

We run eCS as a server, with Injoy for internet interface/firewall/vpn router.

We have not tried connecting from Linux, but connecting from OS/2, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP all work fine.

Cannot connect from Windows Vista...Microsoft changed the way connections work in Vista.

We don't use DHCP on this machine, but I'm sure it works.

Neil Waldhauer:

I'm using OS/2 Warp Server CP (ACP) for a server at my office. But, while I used to use InJoy firewall, I have switched to a hardware router. So dhcp, firewall, etc is in hardware. I use file sharing, authentication, webserver, WebSphere and DB2.

VOICE operates an OS/2 server, and all PMMail development stuff is there. They operate Mantis, MediaWiki, Subversion, MySQL, majormajor and many more.

Warpstock operates an OS/2 server with GeekLog.

Those are the ones that I help with or administer.

You are still using the IBM VAC / TOOKIT include files. For playing
with OW (I use 1.7a and the 1.8 development version) I have a small
cmdfile:

Code: Select all

-------------- snip setvxx.cmd ----
rem set environment for using a version of OW
rem this cmdfile changes temporarily the environment

rem parm1 is WATCOM root directory
rem parm2 - 9 cmdline(s)
rem example to compile + link the PDD example
rem setvxx h:\ow17 cd h:\ow17\samples\os2\pdd ^& wmake

setlocal
SET WATCOM=%1
shift

SET PATH=%WATCOM%\BINP;%WATCOM%\BINW;%PATH%
SET INCLUDE=%WATCOM%\H;%WATCOM%\H\OS2
SET FINCLUDE=%WATCOM%\SRC\FORTRAN;%WATCOM%\SRC\FORTRAN\OS2
SET EDPATH=%WATCOM%\EDDAT
SET HELP=%WATCOM%\BINP\HELP;%HELP%
SET BOOKSHELF=%WATCOM%\BINP\HELP;%BOOKSHELF%
SET BEGINLIBPATH=%WATCOM%\BINP\DLL

%1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9
endlocal
---------------- snip -------------------

Maurilio

I'm using eCS as an intranet/extranet web-server with xitami and an in-house
scripting engine which uses a clipper dialect (xharbour.org) as scripting
language and it works without problems.

No DHCP, though, and data to serve resides on some samba shares.
