eSchemes 1.31 test

Postby David McKenna » Mon Aug 28, 2006 20:08

It has been a while since I tried eSchemes so I decided to install version 1.31. I am running eCS 1.2R with bootable JFS and the latest ACPI. Other WPS extenders installed are XWorkplace, Object Desktop, Drag Text, and Audio/Data CD creator.

Install proceeds smoothly until the very end I get an error message:

The Workplace Shell object titled "Decoration scheme palette" could not be created.

"Retry" doesn't get past this so I finally hit "Ignore". Then after reboot, the destop appears, the cursor turns to a clock, and the computer is hung (although I can move the cursor). I am able to CAD and restore an archive.

There are also two files left in the root directory: popuplog.os2 and eStylerL.log.

Popuplog.os2 contains:

Yuri,

OK... I disabled all titlebar enhancements in OD and now I get a little further. I can install eSchemes, but after rebooting, the startup sound keeps repeating over and over and over and over and I can't stop it. When I try to uninstall eSchemes (eDesktop) from Warpin, the computer hangs and I have to hard boot. I can restore from an archive.

Yuri,

I have just tried version 1.35 and I get the same result - repeating startup sound. I am able to run applications but as soon as I try to drag an object the WPS hangs and I have to CAD.

Will try to fix it in later versions. Check whatsnew for info about fixes.
