Widescreen monitor and DVI connector

Postby Gabriele » Sun Jan 20, 2008 15:26

Hi all,

I have a new Iiyama 22'' that has DVI and VGA connectors. Using version of Panorama installed by eCS 2.0 RC4, if I use the VGA connector all the resolutions from atombios are available, including 1600x1050. If I use the DVI connector, there are just 4 basic resolutions, from 640x480 to 1280x1024.

I'm currently using VGA connection, but I would be happy to use DVI instead!

With Snap, both DVI and VGA give the same resolutions choice.

Bye

If you use DVI the card has to support the resolution of your TFT in BIOS and widescreen resolutions (such as your 1600x1050) are normally not stored there.
If you have an ATI/AMD card you can patch the ATI ATOM BIOS (widescreen activator) so the needed resolutions are added on the fly (might also work if it's an Intel card) but there is no solution if you have an nVidia graphic card.
Kind regards,
