ACPI 2.18 and Xworkplace Xshutdown

Postby mikeforester » Tue Feb 27, 2007 05:24

ACPI 2.18 now properly turns the power off completely when I use Xshutdown -> shutdown only. Earlier versions didn't do this; apparently they were putting the system into a sleep mode, because the power LED stayed lit even though the computer seemed to turn off. So this is good progress.

However, every time I use this method, CHKDSK runs on all disks when I reboot. I have the "Delay" checkbox checked on the XShutdown tab, but that only waits for 3 seconds.

So, does XShutdown need a longer delay, or is ACPI somehow not telling the drives to shutdown properly?

Tyan motherboard with Athlon 64 X2 + nForce4 chipset.

Yes it does also work on my Athlon64 X2 system (selected ACPI 2.18 at the shutdown options).
Here a quick JFS checkdisk is executed. Currently this machine has no HPFS parititions.
CONFIG.SYS option for JFS.IFS is set to /AUTOCHECK:*.
I don't know if this check is unusual.

The only thing I would like to have is "Cool'n'Quite".
It can't be that hard to implement.

[EDIT]
I've just searched again for the information and it looks like the code in the linux package is the way to go.
Everything needed seems to be there in sourcecode.
I might take a look after I've released the SQLite 3.3.13 port on my website.

Here is the Linux Cool'n'Quite package...
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/Tec ... 06,00.html
Look for "AMD Athlon™ 64 Cool'n'Quiet Driver Version 1.50.03 Linux"

[EDIT2] Fixed typo (there might be more)
Kind regards,
Juergen Ulbts
