SunnyIcons (PNG Desktop)

Postby cris » Sat Nov 17, 2007 23:11

Hi!
I installed SunnyIcons from 20071116 with the latest eCO Runtimes (20071117).

First of all let me say this is simply GREAT! I am enjoying it very much.

However, there is a problem and a wish:

- problem is that after fiddling for some time with PNG icons to customize my desktop the way I want, I got into a situation where the PNG icons weren't visualized anymore, leaving either a black hole or the "old" icon visible. After another minute or so I got an error message "Not enough memory to perform this operation" and the WPS restarted itself. After the restart everything was well again. I suspect a problem with shared memory or with shell handles (see my similar report about Imagination). Here is my popup.log:

SS:ESP=0053:0004fa0c SSACC=d0f3 SSLIM=5fffffff
EBP=0004fa20 FLG=00012206

- wish: after applying PNG Desktop, the icon for images is the PMView icon (I have PMView as default association). If the image has a thumbnail, it is NOT visualized. With the standard OS/2 icons, the thumbnail would be visualized, but it is so tiny that it is not useful. Having big icons and not being able to visualize big thumbnails is annoying.

BTW, a BIG THANKYOU for this great software!

Bye
Cris

Eugene, I'm already using the latest. I wrote 20071116, but I should have written 20071117. The problem occurred with the latest version.

Hi Eugene,
there is a little update on the subject, that may be useful to you and/or the developers.

In the message above I expressed a WISH, but now I actually think it's a bug, rather than something not implemented.
Why? Because if I have a bunch of BMPs in a folder, I can actually see their thumbnails. But for any other type of picture I only see a "static" icon (even if they have a thumbnail in the extended attributes).
See Image

Eugene,
the problem of not seeing thumbnails has been solved in the latest release of SunnyIcons (20071123), thankyou!

I have however another bug report: I can not launch any application from a folder where I have the "big icons" activated.
If I try to launch an app, it starts, but the window remains hidden and there's no way to make it show. If I start the same app after changing the view of the folder to show the legacy icons, it starts normally.
If I set the folder to show the "big icons", but launch an app by using the "folder contents" menu, it starts normally.
In short: every launch method that does not involve a double-click on a PNG icon works. Double clicking a PNG icon hangs the application.

Bye
