Good idea, I'll do that once I've got eCS 2.0 Beta 4 installed...seems it currently hangs on the desktop. I made a backup of the previous B3a installation so ...

[SOLVED] DualCore/X2 SMP and FaxWorks

Hi! I've got some trouble with FaxWorks (PMFAX). When I try to start the faxworks.exe in /SMP mode the machine hangs (tried it with and without /TMR). I also changed the exe with "EXECMODE /SP <application>" but this also didn't help. It will only run in single CPU mode (/APIC). Anyone with the same...

Ok, booting again with /APIC /SMP which seems work now (don't know yet if it's because I deinstalled SNAP but currently it looks that way). I enabled the APM.ADD driver v1.09! It's still working (I've not yet re-installed SNAP). :) [Update01]: Installed AMOUSE 2.7.0.9 and it's working [Update02]: Re...

while starting SMP: * disable Audio, * use PS/2, not USB. * disable network adapter Hi Eugene, thank you for your fast replies. I did another test with disabled UNIAUD and IBM's NULL NDIS driver. ACPI.PSD /APIC /SMP /TMR While it did work without /TMR on the previous boot, with the parameter it doe...

btw, * NVidia chipset, X2 => you must use /SMP /APIC * if using Bootable JFS, and system stops at PMSHELL or at network driver then chkdsk x: /f * disable all unneccesary devices (audio, usb,..) I've already done that: -/SMP /APIC ---> CRASH loading PMSHELL after SNAP screen Uninstalled SNAP and mo...

Ok, another update... I tried to boot with /PIC /SMP where I get a little bit further. Here I get a lockup when PMSHELL begins to load the desktop. The 'orange' background color is already shown but then there is no more progress (no backup of desktop (XWP), no icons,...). The only thing I seen besi...

Hi Eugene! there is /APIC switch, forget about /ACPI Sorry, messed up driver name and parameter. Fixed it above. First test with ACPI driver v2.17 doesn't fix my problem. I verified it's really 2.17! :) I get the exact same TRAP dump as with v2.16! TRAP with /APIC /SMP and no TRAP with /APIC only ED...

Re: Kernel 14.105

My system with nForce4 (Asus A8N-E) now seems happy in SMP mode with Kernel 14.105 (from XR_C006) and ACPI 2.16. And using the suggestions in the 2.17 docs. to reserve IRQs 3, 5 and 7 in the mobo BIOS allows me to renable the OHCI driver and use AMouse again. Could you post your ACPI.PSD parameters...

2.16/2.17 - Hangs on RESOURCE.SYS; Installation enhancement

Hi! I've tried ACPI 2.16 and 2.17 the last couple of days and it seems my system doesn't like any of them. I've not checked 'acpica.add' yet! I tried /NOD only, /PIC only, /NOD /PIC, /NOD /PIC /AFS and finally /AFS only parameters. With /AFS parameter the driver hangs on the second entry in SNOOP.LS...

Just a little update... The first components of my new system have already arrived. This weekend I'll build up the new system and do the installation work. Marvell 88E8053 chip is working as of GenMac v1.8 (April 2006, so far unreleased).

Thank you for the information. I must have missed it and I'm pretty sure I'll get the driver even if it's not officially released until then. :)

Re: SMP on new Intel Core2Duo (Conroe)?

If I get the Fujitsu-Siemens P5615/5616 for a reasonable price I may turn to the Athlon64 X2 instead. Intel mainboard chipsets are currently better supported from acpi drivers than nForce chipsets. I sure Pasha is doing his best to support it, but nVidia does not release any documentation about the...

SMP on new Intel Core2Duo (Conroe)?

Hi!

Is there some information if the new Intel Core2Duo work on eCS in SMP?
Maybe there has been experience with the previous Intel Pentium D processor.

I assume the ACPI driver is needed as for the Athlon64 X2 models.

Many thanks!
