No special settings in CONFIG.SYS. I know from old tests with OS/2 installed on HPFS, that the system crashes or locks up when the swapfile size reaches 2GB. This is understandable because the file size limit on HPFS is 2GB. But what happens when swap file on bootable JFS surpasses 2GB size? Anyone ...

Swap file size on JFS

Does the new eCS JFS.IFS support a swap file bigger than 2GB?

Did you really remove \os2\svgadata.pmi ?
This error message typically comes from the statement "#includecode "sddpmi.dll" contained in svgadata.pmi.

Mouse pointer

The mouse pointer handling introduced in today's (May-10) Panorama VESA update seems to be less efficient compared to the previous version. Just pushing around the default b&w mouse pointer on the idle desktop used to cause about 1% processor load per cpu core, now it is about 8% per core. Also ...

optimized for SMP?

In the panorama.doc file I find the following feature description:
"The only video driver optimized for SMP"

What type of SMP optimization is meant here, besides write combine enable?
Is there any parallel processing implemented?

OK, about 50% speed compared to accelerated SNAP, that's what I would have expected.
Actually "bitblit" scores of 200+ are not so bad. This means that a 1280*800 laptop screen can be completely rewritten 200 times per second.

Panorama: PM-graphics marks: 60.471 SNAP: PM-graphics marks: 269.409 Sysbench tends to over-weight individual very high scores, like "Filled Rectangle". For today's applications having lots of pictures as well as anti-aliased text, the by far most important scores are: - BitBlt S->S copy - BitBlt M...

on my LG F122PTV core duo. Well it works great. For the first time I can use the widescreen resolutions, which didn't work in SNAP. Graphics card is Intel 82945GM. Good to hear that it works for you at 1280*800 widescreen resolution. Btw, is there anyone who owns one of those fancy 24" flat screens...

Working on Xen (OpenSource)! The only way OS/2 or eCS will work (as we can't modify the Kernel which is a must to run it on older CPUs) is to use the hardware virtualization stuff (AMD Pacifica/Intel Vanderpool). Without knowing Xen in detail I think only the Xen application has to be ported (which...

The last time I checked (1st week in August) eCS 1.2R on WindowsXP SP2 and VMWare (the currently free version) it wasn't working either. Reportedly VMWare does not fully support the full i386 ring0...ring3 segmented memory model. Most guest OS only need ring0 & ring3, but OS/2 needs additionall...

but I can't install eCS 1.2MR nor 2.0... I don't know if I still have images of eCS version 1.0 and 1.1: it would be interesting to know when the incompatibility arises. All eCS versions 1.0...2.0 are based on the "Warp Server for e-Business" codebase, sometimes called "Warp 4.5", which contains a ...

OS/2 and eCS make use of a larger subset of the highly complex i386 instruction set, compared to most other systems. So it is likely that you triggerd a so far undetected bug or limitation in Qemu.

Re: SMP on new Intel Core2Duo (Conroe)?

the biggest problem could be the Marvel 8053 Gigabit chip Marvell 88E8053 chip is working as of GenMac v1.8 (April 2006, so far unreleased). There is a driver for older versions of the Marvel chip but I don't know if they also work with the 8053 (patching the driver with the correct PCI-ID may not ...

Re: SMP on new Intel Core2Duo (Conroe)?

If I get the Fujitsu-Siemens P5615/5616 for a reasonable price I may turn to the Athlon64 X2 instead. Intel mainboard chipsets are currently better supported from acpi drivers than nForce chipsets. I sure Pasha is doing his best to support it, but nVidia does not release any documentation about the...

CPPRRT36.MSG should be copied to \OS2\SYSTEM to diplay the actual error message. This msg file used to be part of the VACPP compiler v3.6. I don't have it at hands right now, but maybe someone can send it to Paavo.

In case I start acpidaemon.exe not from "run=" statement in config.sys, but later manually from a command prompt, the "press enter to continue" prompt will not come. In both cases acpidaemon.log is written normally.

I do not redirect any output from acpidaemon, and never did.

But how can I avoid the "press enter to continue" prompt during bootup?
Boot process stops until I confirm the error message with enter key.
